{review & giveaway} Believe Student Edition

The final book in the Believe series that I’ll be reviewing is a powerful one. The Believe Student Edition is a book that will challenge, inspire and educate your teen. I am really looking forward to watching my teenager digest the thoughts and challenges that this book puts forward. Like the back cover states, “You’ve heard the story of the Bible. Now it’s time to make it your own.” I.Love.That. I want my children to grasp their faith with their own two hands and run with it. This book is a great tool for teens that are ready to really dive in to their own Christianity.

There is an excellent preface as well as an explanation of each section at the beginning of the book. It is broken up into the same sections as the Believe Storybook and the Believe Kids’ Edition – Think, Act, Be.  Each section has ten chapters. Here is a breakdown of chapter one, so you can get a clear idea of the depth that this book contains.

The introduction to section one – Believe – is powerful and though provoking. For teens that were raised in the church as well as teens that are just learning about Jesus – this is the central question. What Do I Believe? Through the first ten chapters, Randy Frazee uses long sections of scripture from the Old and New Testaments that provoke thought and discussion.

The first chapter is ten pages long. These are not short and sweet devotions. These chapters challenge teens to dive into their beliefs. There are short sections with questions and explanations that link the Old Testament to the New Testament to a teen’s every day faith.IMG_0666

At the end of each chapter, there is a summary. It contains questions that would be excellent for journaling or a Bible class, or in our case our homeschool Bible study.  Topics covered in the Believe Student Edition include the Trinity, your Identity in Christ, Eternity, Biblical Community, Bible Study, as well as the Fruits of the Spirit in the Be section at the end of the Believe Student Edition. These topics are covered in all the Believe books, but the Student Edition goes deeper into Scripture to really teach teens deep and lasting lessons on these important topics.

This is not a fluff book that your teen will be able to read and toss aside. The Believe Student Edition will challenge them to figure out what they believe, how it’s going to change what they do and who they are. The Believe Student Edition is a tool that I honestly believe every teen should read. I review a good number of books and I don’t say that very often (or ever!).  Maybe for some it will be review but I think for most it will challenge them to grow deeper in their own faith.
